William Fitzsimmons

Reactions :

Born the youngest child of two blind parents, William Fitzsimmons was raised in the outskirts of the steel city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Reared more on sound than sight, Fitzsimmons was immersed in a musically saturated home teeming with a myriad of instruments, classical and folk records, talking parrots, and a pipe organ his father constructed with his own hands. His influences include the folk icons of Nick Drake, Simon & Garfunkel, and James Taylor, the melodic sounds of the Beatles and Brian Wilson, and the contemporary eclecticism of Ben Gibbard and Imogen Heap. He is most often compared to Sufjan Stevens and Iron & Wine, with touches of the Postal Service.
If you like Folk music or alternative rock, you'll definitely like him.
He has three albums:
--Until when we are ghost in 2005
--Good night in 2007
--The Sparrow and the crow in 2008

Then you need to boost the levels of your "happy hormone"--serotonin. It's a brain chemical that's triggered by certain things. So here's how to trigger it, courtesy of Dr. Pamela Peeke.

  • Eat popcorn. The smell of popcorn gives you more energy, and the complex carbs boost serotonin production. And unlike sugary foods, complex carbs increase your feelings of well-being without a blood sugar crash afterward. You can also boost serotonin production by eating turkey, eggs, nuts, beans, fish and hummus.
  • Get more vitamins. Studies show that walking 20 minutes a day and taking a multi-vitamin that includes folic acid, B vitamins, selenium and vitamin D can boost the mood of mildly depressed people by 50%. And as an added bonus, 25% of the people in the study who tool supplements also lost weight without trying.
  • Another happiness booster: Milk. A study in Netherlands found that the "whey" in milk boosts serotonin production.
  • Chocolate. Studies show that dark chocolate contains a blend of calming ingredients which activate the feel-good chemicals in your brain.

So, to lift your mood, munch popcorn, take a multivitamin and go for a daily walk, drink milk and eat some dark chocolate.

Why Men die before Women??

Reactions :

After talking with her mother and friends about a TV show that they saw earlier in the day about remarrying, a woman decides she is going to ask her husband if she were to die would he remarry. Here is how their conversation went:

WIFE: 'What would you do if I died? Would you get married again?
HUSBAND: 'Definitely not!'
WIFE: 'Why not? Don't you like being married?'
HUSBAND: 'Of course I do.'
WIFE: 'Then why wouldn't you remarry?'
HUSBAND: 'Okay, okay, after a considerable period of grieving and maybe even some therapy then yes I'd probably get married again.'
WIFE: 'You would?'
HUSBAND: (makes audible groan)

WIFE: 'Would you live in our house?'
HUSBAND: 'Well we have put a considerable amount of money into it to get it just the way we like it. It seems like a waste to give all that up so sure I guess I would.'

WIFE: 'Would you sleep with her in our bed?'
HUSBAND: 'This bed is brand new, where else would we sleep?'

WIFE: 'Would you let her drive my car?'
HUSBAND: 'Probably, it is new and worth more if I keep it then if I sell it.'

WIFE: 'Would you replace my pictures with hers?'
HUSBAND: 'That would seem like the proper thing to do'

WIFE: 'Would you give her my jewelry?'
HUSBAND: 'No, I'm sure she'd want her own.'

WIFE: 'Would you take her golfing with you?
HUSBAND: 'Yes, those are always good times.'

WIFE: 'Would she use my clubs?
HUSBAND: 'No, she's left-handed.'

And the Oscar Goes To...

Reactions :

Is there anything worse than a movie that's been made for only one purpose: to win Oscars?

I'm talking, of course, about Ron Howard's Frost/Nixon and David Fincher's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Here are two handsomely mounted productions that take no risks, offer no insights, and are just polite enough to win the Academy's favor. That's not to say these movies are bad, but they ARE boring. Don't let anyone tell you any different.

Marley & Me was definitely the best holiday movie. If you haven't seen it, go see it now!!!

3 wishes

Reactions :

A man is walking down the beach and comes across an old bottle. He picks it up, pulls out the cork and out pops a genie. The genie says "Thank you for freeing me from the bottle. In return I will grant you three wishes."

The man says "Great. I always dreamed of this and I know exactly what I want."

"First, I want 1 Billion dollars in a Swiss bank account." Phoof! There is a flash of light and a piece of paper with account numbers appears in his hand.

He continues, "Next, I want a brand new red Ferrari right here." Phoof! There is a flash of light and a bright red brand-new Ferrari appears right next to him.

He keeps going, "Finally, I want to be irresistible to women."

Phoof! There is a flash of light and he turns into a box of chocolates.
