After reading amazing reviews about Paranormal Activity, I knew that I had to watch it. This mockumentary follows a young couple who are tracking a ghost in their house.
Horror movies were my favorites since I was a kid (I'm serious, I could stay up to 4am watching them and not being scared). These past years I stopped watching them because I thought that they were lame and not frightening at all. But Paranormal Activity scared the shit out of me. It's terrifying, creepy, freaky etc... The best part of this movie (worst part of my nightmares) is that everything seems so real. When I left the movie theater, I sat down on a bench to breathe deeply. I also ended up buying a cappucino to calm myself and have some sort of energy.
During the movie I was very empathetic to the girl because I believe in ghosts and actually saw them twice in my life.

According to Wiki, the director only spent 15000$ to make it and since October this masterpiece has made nearly 40 millions. If you want to be scared this Halloween, please forget the bloddy Saw and go watch this.

Have you seen it yet? Do you believe in ghosts? What are your plans for Halloween?

GI Joe

This week-end was the premiere of the very anticipated movie GI Joe. And guess what? It was disappointing. It was a really average movie. For a GI Joe movie, it should have more excitment, more intensity and of course better jokes. Seriously I could have written better jokes for them. And the love story (every action-hero movie has one) was so annoying and stupid.
Well, if you have nothing better to do, you can watch but I'd recommend you to wait for the dvd or to download it. I'm making it sound like the worst movie but it wasn't that bad but the actors suck. Maybe GI Joe #2 will be better. 6/10

Funny People, the new movie this week-end, wasn't like how I imagined it. I thought it was going to be a long serie of gags, pranks and jokes but it was more like a lesson in friendship, acceptation, forgiveness etc... mixed with adult-humor. Some of the jokes were really funny and some of them not so much.
But overall, I had a great time and Adam Sandler (one of my favorite actor) did deliver another awesome movie, not to mention that Seth Rogen (Knocked up, Pineapple Express) is still on the train that will make him one of Hollywood funniest man.
I think if you have some free time this week, you should definitely go see it. 8.5/10

This week-end is a little different, I went to the movies on Friday instead of Saturday (now I don't have nothing to do today...)
Harry Potter is finally released after 2 years of waiting. And I have to say, I was disappointed. I'm a big fan of HP books and movies but this movie didn't fulfill my expectations. During the movie, I was waiting for something to happen like a big fight or something really awesome but nothing happenned. I believe this movie was made up to prepare the intrigue for the last Harry Potter. Overall, this movie deserves a 7/10 which is good but not great.
After the movie, I went to a free summer concert and all the three bands that were performing sucked. There are songs, nobody applauded when they finished singing them. And the second band made me really sleepy.

Yesterday was a rainy day in here. So I went to the theathers and watched 2 movies (of course I only paid for one and sneaked in for the second one).

Public Enemies, wow, great movie! Can easily become a classic in your dvd collection. Johnny Depp was amazing. He is probably one of the best actor of all time. The scenario, the actors, the decor, the production.. everything was well done. Not to mention Christian Bale was his opponent.

Bruno, what can I say?? LMAO, very inappropriate, very gay, very naked, very crazy, very funny, very silly etc... But the movie was really short 1h25 min because they deleted many scenes, some of the scenes that were in the trailer didn't even make it to the final cut. Blame it on the gay associations.

I went to see Transformers 2 on Imax. The movie was good, not great or exceptional. Megan Fox was super hot as always, few of the dialogues were shiteous and once you get the storyline, the movie becomes previsible. Did I also mention that it was too long. I swear few people were SNORING during the movie. I still can't believe they were sleeping. How can you sleep in an Imax screening while the chairs are shaking and your ear-drums are about to burst??
Even if Transformers is making tons of millions, Terminator 4 and Star Trek were better!

Yesterday was a really fun day off. And as I told my twitter friends, I'm still exhausted from last night party.
If you haven't seen Terminator 4 and Hangover GO SEE THEM NOW. Two completely different movies but they are both great in their categories.
Terminator 4 is as you already know about big machines and guns. One of the best action movie this summer! Overall 9/10
Hangover was hilarious from A to Z. If you want to ROTFLMAO then this movie is for you. Overall 10/10

PS: Click here for two completes and great reviews about Terminator Salvation and Hangover

I won't spoil
I went to see Star Trek last night and I loved it. I never watch the previous S. Trek movies and never wanted to catch up. But the new Star Trek is directed by my favorite director JJ Abrams (Fringe and Lost), so I had to go to the movies.
I wasn't disappointed, the casting was excellent, the editing and special effects were perfect, the sound will connect you to the actions etc... I'll give it a 9/10, a must-see and better than last week X-Men Wolverine.

On April the 1st, Wolverine leaked in many download and streaming websites with an excellent quality. When I told my friends, they decided that it was an april fool. But it wasn't :P However there were 2 or 3 scenes that weren't finished because you could see all the 3D images and videoshops.
Now let's get back to the movie (I won't spoil).
Positive aspects: The fights were amazingly well executed. The visuals effects and details were beautiful to watch and the scenario wasn't childish like many movies from cartoons & video games. Hugh Jackman was really into his character, our Ryan Reynolds was also great but Will.I.Am character sucked.
Negative aspects: I think Wolverine wasn't that involved in the movie. I mean, the director was trying to build a strong blockbuster story so he might have priviledged a good story than the main character. And Wolverine got to show all his skills and anger just a the end of the movie. I hope they will add more scenes when the movie is officially out.

Overall, this is a great movie and it's worth the 10$ movie ticket. I'll give it a 8/10.
PS: Even if the FBI started to investigate about the leak, you can still watch it online otherwise you'll have to wait till April the 29th.

Watchmen

I was watching Watchmen last night. It was said it's the 2009 Dark Night, the trailers rocked and people were very excited to see it. In fact it opens this week-end with an impressive 56 millions US-dollars. But it wasn't that good for me. The first song ruined it for me, it's was just awful for my ears and it was for 7 or 8 minutes. Then nothing exciting happenned. I was waiting, waiting, waiting for something to happen. And I thought the scenario was a little too "easy" and the dialogues could have been much better. I felt like I was in a bad version of Sin City. After 70 minutes I get really bored and stopped watching it.
What do you think? Should I continue or it's just a waste of time?

The Last Kiss is a 2006 movie with Zach Braff (Scrubs), Casey Affleck and Rachel Bilson (The O.C.). It's a very candid movie and manages to be funny sometimes. It's a movie I recommend to everybody. It also highlights important life and relationship lessons such as trust, faith, keeping and meaning your words, commitment, honesty etc...
The actors are really talented and the directing is simple and touching.
After watching this movie, you will try to appreciate more every seconds you have with the loves ones and learn not be be too scared of surprises. And above all that, it shows how communication is essentiel for a good and healthy relation.
This movie might have many great lessons but don't get me wrong it not boring at all. I didn't notice the time while I was watching it.
PS: Watch it with your lover but it's also fun to watch alone

This is another cool movie from Tyler Perry.
Just relax, free your mind, don't take yourself seriously and watch this movie. It's hilarious and helps you learn essentiel life lessons: to trust and to forgive.
The actors are really good and lose them in their characters effortlessly. Go watch it, you will laugh your butt off, have a great time with your friends and share pop-corn.

...for Best Picture (Best Movie) goes to Slumdog Millionaire. I've already published twice a post about this movie. Click here for the previous post and find out what I think about it.
PS: Like I predicted, Benjamin Button failed because it's boring and only has few great moments.

This year best Valentine's day movie is........Slumdog Millionnaire. If you have seen it yet, it's really time to see it. If you have, you wouldn,t mind watching it again. Trust me, all the emotions will emerge again. Here are some critics:
"a breathless, exciting story, heartbreaking and exhilarating." Chicago Sun times

"a modern fairy tale," a "sensory blowout," and "one of the most upbeat stories about living in hell imaginable." The New York Post

"a goofy picaresque to rival Forrest Gump" IndieWire

With all the buzz this movie is getting, I was way too curious to watch it.
And..... this 2 hour movie is epic, a masterpiece, great, lovely, touching, intelligent, exotic, an escape, captivating, breathtaking, violent.
It's waaaaaaay better than his big "opponent" The Curious Case of Benjamin Button for the Oscars.
TCCoBB is a good movie but I felt it was calculated, unreal and a little boring at the beggining and the end.
For me, Slumdog Millionaire is one of the best movie I've seen for years. I highly recommend it. Please watch it.

Is there anything worse than a movie that's been made for only one purpose: to win Oscars?

I'm talking, of course, about Ron Howard's Frost/Nixon and David Fincher's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Here are two handsomely mounted productions that take no risks, offer no insights, and are just polite enough to win the Academy's favor. That's not to say these movies are bad, but they ARE boring. Don't let anyone tell you any different.
